Title Letter to S. M. Thompson dated Sep 24th 1907
Object Name Letter
Scope & Content Sep 24th 1907

My dear son
{written crosswise: you will have a heap to tell when you get back.
With love favorable (?) I remain Your devoted Mother]
I simply acknowledge your letter for there is no news whatever. Clifton Byrd, Janet and Mr. Puleston came Saturday night. They had a nice time but it rained a good part of the time. Clifton seemed real disappointed not to see you. Asked about you as soon as she got here. She was in Va all summer and was on her way home. Lewis told Sam about the money and he said "all righth." Lassris said he would send the ten this morning. We gave the address to each one.
J. D. Palmer, Mr. Williamson and Mr. Grogshoor all resigned from the R. R. Office and Tom Taylor and George Beard have taken their place. They say Tom looks like a walking Ghost. And there a plenty of doctors around that big paper mill? Lassric says there is nothing doing ? Humphries and Dr. Waas are away and Fred is not busy while he has not had a case in two weeks.
The drug store is doing fairly well, indeed very well but it is mostly William's prescription.
Same is getting ready to leave as soon as possible. He is all to pieces. Mr. Poore will be in charge with Lewis in the Office. This work seems a little hard for the boy. The hours are so long and he is pretty well even down. But he says he will try it for a month. Charlie Chestnut is ? to work for the new bank. Wanted us to board him but I could not see anything in it. Wm. Oliver and his son were in the drug store buying Coca Cola Saturday night.
Am glad you have had a nice time. I know [see beginning of letter]
