This will inform you that I am well and doing very well. And hoping that you are the same.
My school commenced this morning with a number of thirty five. I took all of last week to get the peopled stysed up about the school. So now they are all in good spirit and expect to crowd the school room with pupils. Now Mr. Lewis I think that have done well. And after laboring to have I think that I ought to be well paid for my labors. As I have to pay eight dollars for my board. I would be under many obligations to you and the board of Pub. Inst. if you would give me a good salary. I think forty or fifty dollars would not be any too much. Please do all you can for me. We are needling a stove, water bucket, and four benches. Would like very much to have them this week. Please send me all the news. I remain

P.S. You will find in closed my certificate that I received in Suwannee County last spring. You may keep it on file until I come down. I will give you a list of my studies for this term thus--Scholas Companion,, Latin Grammar, English Composition, practical Arithmetic, physical Geography, Natural Philosophy. I think within a few weeks I will able to take up Algebra.
