A poem by Richard Armour (American humorist) is quoted. Armour also painted Falstaff's portrait in a circular niche in the black wall of the Palace Saloon in 1907. Armour returned to Fernandina in 1960 to retouch the painting for D. C. Land and H. E. Williams, owners of the Palace.
