Whereas it is apparent that the funds of this Board are insufficient to build additional school buildings and to maintain the public schools in this County for any longer period than six months a year; and whereas this Board desires to have the schools in the City of Fernandina kept for nine or ten months in the year, and whereas the Peabody school funds endowed by the late Geo Peabody of Massachusetts is intended to assist the maintaining of Public schools in the Southern States: and begin desirous to avail ourselves of this munificent Peabody Endowment
Therefore be it ?? that the Chairman and Secretary of this Board ?? Trustees or managing Agent of the Peabody educational funds for such aid or donations as we may be entitled to under the rules and regulations of said Board of Trustees and as they may be kind enough to bestow upon us. Hereby requesting our Chairman and Secretary to furnish said Peabody board such information and statistics in relation to our schools as may be necessary.
