|Title||Letter from Mr. Dursill about a teaching position|
|Scope & Content||
Danvers Mass Aug. 31, 1876
Mr. Chas. W. Lewis
Thinking that you failed to receive my last and fearing to wait longer for a reply, lest there should not be time in which to hear from you again before I would need leave home, I write again.
Would say that if with you, as with us here in Mass., one's position and salary is dependent upon the examination passed and grade of certificate taken. I would be willing to take my chance for a position as teacher with you in Fla. If when you shall receive this, there will be time for me to receive another from you, would like you to write if possible when the examination of teachers will be.
If I should not hear from you I shall infer that there will not be time and that their examination will be duirng the third week in September.
Had planned to stop in Sumter So. Ca. but another teacher plans to accompany me and we will come direct to Fernandina by steamer if possible.
Trusting all will be well, should I not hear to the contrary.
? respectfully and kindly
Wilbur W. Dursill.
