Subject: My Dear Son
Your letter was rec'd this morning and I was glad to hear from you. I commenced to hink you had forgotten us all and would never write. You must take time and write Mama a nice long letter at least once a month (a nice...month is underlined in blue with "week" written on top of "month"). You can show your appreciation of all she has done for you and her great love for you to never ? off a hasty letter but dot down as your memory little things that happen during the week & write her so do not forget this as Mama will be lonesome with you boys and Evelyn away.
The interest you would get from your Savah deposit will not pay for the trouble & inconvenience for just sign the enclosed letter "Scott M. Thompson" & mail to Mr. Freeman. I prefer you to keep it there than here or at Farm.
The strike is ended an account of which you have seen in the paper I mailed to you..
Write soon and as often as you can.
Affectionately
Papa
