|Scope & Content||
A special meeting of the Vestry at St. Peters Church on Sunday March 6th 1887.
Meeting held in Vestry Room of St. Peters Church.
Present were: The Rector--Rev. C. M. Sturgis; Wardens--Swann and Fairbanks; Vestrymen--Dotterer, Schuyler, King, Hillyer.
The Senior Warden states that he had invited a meeting of the vestry to ask their immediate consideration of the matter of the Rectory: Whether the tenant now occupying the Rectory shall be notified to vacate. The Rector stated that his preference would be for the present to remain in the house now occupied by his family on Center St. being more convenient for himself and for the people of the parish until...some more desirable change can be effected. Mr. S. A. Swann Senior Warden then proposed that he would convey to the Church Lots 7 & 8 in Block 44, with dwelling now on said Lot 8, being the property immediately east of the Church, in exchange for the Old Rectory property Lot 8 in Block 49. Upon Motion of Maj. Fairbanks this proposition was thankfully accepted by the Vestry in behalf of the Parish, and the Senior Warden authorized to complete the transfer.
Upon suggestion of the Rector, Capt. King was appointed a committee of one to provide suitable means for conveying to Seamen Notices of the services in this Church.
Mr. Schuyler reported that lumber was cut and seasoning for constructing the pews--That the plain glass for the organ & choir windows was on hand awaiting suitable skilled labor to put the same in place.
