Original article in the November 14, 1817, Boston newspaper, The Palladium, by Louis Aury. In the editorial, Aury speaks out against men who abandoned the republican couse and are taking refuge in Fernandina, Florida. He wrote that the presence of these men in causing social disorder in the town and threatening to involve its inhabitants in a civil war. In the article he wants it known that the actions and ambitions of a few men should not implement the involvement of all Floridians in scandalous behavior. In his conclusion Aury emphasizes love of liberty and hatred of tyranny.
