Scope & Content A never used check, No. 7765, from the Fernandina Packing Company. The company was owned by a group of individuals including Mr. Gorenflo and his relatives in Biloxi, MS. They were pioneers in the canning of shrimp and oysters. Under a variety of company names, they operated also in Biloxi, Mississippi, Houma, Louisiana, and Brunswick GA. Mr. Gorenflo lived in Fernandina with his wife circa 1913. They bought one of the "Egmont Houses" on South Seventh Street. The Fernandina Packing Company operations ceased sometime between late 1925 and 1927. Mr. Gorenflo died in 1928.
