Dave Roeser Dave was born in Canton, Ohio. he joined the Army in 1967 at 18 years old. He attended Basic Training in Fort Knox, Kentucky and then to Augusta, GA, Fort Gordon for advanced training to be in the Signal Corps for teletype communication and the cryptography machinery. He went to Vietnam in April 1968 and was stationed in Hue, Vietnam in the communication section of a helicopter battalion. He also served as a helicopter gunner and served there for two years. He also served as a generator operator and an Military Police (MP). He was awarded a Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal. Upon leaving the Army, Dave spent a brief stint in the Coast Guard. He was assigned to an inland construction tender, which was responsible for the aids to navigation in the Chesapeake Bay. He completed service in 1970. Dave now makes his home in Fernandina Beach, Florida. |
