A letter to E. D. Tracy from his son E. D. Tracy, Jr., who went by Darwin with his family. Writing from Camp Mercer, Savannah, GA, Darwin informs his father that as he has written home several times and gotten no response, he fears his letters aren't reaching them. He also mentions being promoted to 1st Corporal and has risen to 5th Sergeant by the time of this letter. He also says he has no idea if they will be leaving Camp Mercer before next spring. On the seond page, there is a note in different handwriting that says "You mut come home and see us. For we are anxious to see you. E. D. Tracy, Sr.", appearing to be a response to the letter by Darwin's father. One of the transcripts comes from the book 'The Tracy Heritage', currently in the museum library. This collection of correspondences, photographs, personal items, and maps are from the life of Erasmus Darwin Tracy and Porte Creyon Tracy. This collection was donated by the Verne Johnson Pickren, Jr. family for all to enjoy. |
