Newspaper coverage of the partnership among the City of Fernandina Beach, the Amelia Island Museum of History, and the Nassau County Public Library-FB branch for Black History month programming, February, 2016. The focus of the programming was "Celebrating Black History Month 2016: Remembering Peck High and Rosenwald Schools". Events include a proclamation by the City Commission; installation and dedication of a state historical marker; showings of the film, Rosenwald. A scanning day was held at the Museum where Peck friends, family and alumni brought memorabilia related to Peck High in for scanning. This has served as the basis for much of the Peck Collection at the Museum. Also included is a single sheet program to the Historic marker installation and ceremony. See Vertical File-Schools-Historic-Peck High School for additional information on the application for and installation ceremony of the state historic marker as well as the FB City proclamation. |
