May 10 89 Mr. Stewart Hotel Tagni, Jax Dear Sir:- Since your departure I have more fully investigated the condition and requirements of the Egmont Hotel, and find that the cost of repairs and improvements suggested by you, and find that the cost of repairs and improvements suggested by you, will be much greater than the small rental proposed will justify. I have, however, submitted a full statement of the matter to the owners of the property in N.Y. and asked an immediate reply, which, when received will be communicated to you. In the mean time I have had the Range taken down and find it can easily be repaired and its condition be made as good as new. -- I will also set a carpenter and plasterer to work at once making such repairs as are in their line and will also do such other things as may be considered necessary for the preservation of the building [indecipherable] --- Allow me to hope that some arrangement may be entered into between us of a character mutually satisfactory.
