Peck School Revival: Dream Becomes Reality by Edward Kuhn (News-Leader Editor) Black Community leaders and local and national officials announced that the Head Start program for preschool children of low income families will be based at Peck High School under a lease by the Nassau County School Board. The officials included U. S. Congressman Charles E. Bennett, Nassau County School Board Chairman Milt Shirley and Fernandina Beach Mayor Charles Albert. The Nassau County Community Development Corporation negotiated the lease for $1 per year. NCCDC President was Elmo Myers. Dr. Brigitte Gardner will direct the Head Start Program. |
