The Fernandina News Friday July 26, 1895. This newspaper is filled with different advertisements for local buisnesses. Brady for furniture, - The Florida House (located south of Centre street on 3rd street), - J.L. Horsey's Drug Store, - J & T. Kydd (located North East corner of Centre and Third streets. the New York office address is 83 Walker street.), - Suhrer the Jewler store, - Kelly & Bro for Wholesale and Retai, - Armour & Co's., - C. Sahlman (located at the corner of 6th an Ash street), - S, Carrio (cigar shop), - G.F. Avery (located corner of 4th and Beech street), - W.B. Darling (located at the corner of Second and Broome Streets) There is a story about rummors gun arms and people being transported to Cuba on a small seam boat that was in port on Sunday and will leave Monday morning of July 29, 1895. There is a report talking about the different forms of transportation competing on the island with steam railroads suffering from the trolley competion. And the Trolley is suffering from competion from bicycles. There is a section called Select siftings. One of the remarks is that Smith Barton is credited for being the first one in the United States to reduce the Native American languages to a system. Another remark in the select siftings is "Like all people with whom the beard is scanty, The Indians regard it as a blemish and pluck it out." A statistic told in the Select Siftings is that "Nearly one-half of our voting strength in 1890 was either foreign born, American born of foreign parents, or colored." The Select Siftings provide a stastic that "The potential militia of this country includes all males from eighteen to fourty-four years old, and in 1890 the number was 13,230,168. There was news coming from the Tallahasseean newspaper saying "Thomas R.
