1. Letter from Mrs. Helen G. Litrico, President, and Robert M. White, Treasurer and Registered Agent, paying for annual filing and fee for change of Registered Agent 2. Photocopy of envelope marked Report of County Clerk of Property destroyed by Fire, Mar. 24, 1876. 3. Letter from Helen Litrico to Commissioners of Nassau County dated 9 Oct. 1981, requesting permission for a delegation from the Historical Society to examine the documents and written materials stored in the steeple of the Courthouse. 4. Newsletter for October 1981 announcing field to King's Bay Archaeological Digs and guest speaker Miss Dena Snodgrass (Jacksonville's most eminent historian) who whose topic is "A New Source of Fernandina History." She will talk about the East Florida papers. 5. Report of the quarterly meeting of the GDLC Historical Society of Amelia Island which was held Oct. 12th at the First Presbyterian Church. 6. Letter to Helen Litrico from T. J. Greeson, Ex-Officio Clerk, dated 22 Oct. granting permission for the Historical Society to view the records stored in the steeple of the Courthouse (but not to remove them from the building). 7. Letter to James R. Gildenston from Charles C. Fishburne, Jr., dated 25 Nov. 1981. Letterhead is Cedar Key Historical Society declining invitation to be guest speaker for Jan. meeting. 8. Letter from James R. Gildenston to Mr. Thomas Burbank dated 8 Dec. 1981 confirming Burbank as speaker for Jan. 11, 1982 program. 9. Letter from James R. Gildenston to Mr. Greeson, Clerk of the County Court dated 14 Dec. 1981 stating that Gildenston and Ken Shanklin had visited to court house and implore the County Court to move the records from the court house to a safer place and to organized them into some order. 10. Reply to #9 stating that Greeson will present the letter to the Board of County Commissioners and that he shares the concern for preservation of the oldest County records. 11. Newsletter announcing that Dr. Bill Adams (University of Florida) will speak about excavating the Kings Bay Area in Georgia. 12. Minutes of the Regular Quarterly Meeting held 19 January 1981. Speaker was Herchel E. Shepard, Jacksonville architect notes for design and historic preservation work throughout Florida. 13. Handwritten workshop (probably by Mary Agnes White) with details of upcoming Charleston trip. 14. Minutes of the Regular Quarterly Meeting held 13 April 1981. Recap of Charleston trip held March 21 and 22. Museum report: Dorothy Groshell is now Museum Director. Kiwanis Club members have donated their services in renovating more room in the old county jail. Concept of the suit case museum project was presented. "Show and Tell" program participants: Bill & Roseanna Oliver; Pat Cottrell; Ed Mercer; Helen Litrico; John Tillman; Claude Rucker; Susan McCraine; and Elizabeth O'Hagen. 15. Handwritten letter for Mrs. Sports at Middleton Place, Charleston, SC, from Mary Agnes White dated 24 April 1981. Letter notes that Society has sent a check $583.85 and details expenses incurred during the Charleston trip. 16. Minutes of the Regular Quarterly Meeting held 13 July 1981. Board agreed to purchase the two volumes of Senator David Yulee doctoral thesis to be placed in library. Nominating committee for slate for 1982 chosen: Pat Cottrell, Exteen Corbett, Dr. Jim Gildenston. Program given by Dorothy Groshell, Museum Director since February. She recognized that the Historical Society founded the Museum. 17. Minutes of the Regular Quarterly Meeting held 12 October 1981. Susan McCraine reported the Victorian parlor is a permanent at the Museum. Rosanna [sic] Oliver announced dates for the Antique Show sponsored by the Restoration Foundation. Comprehensive report on Bosquebello [sic] Cemetery given by Ken Sturges. His committee of Bob White and Jim Gildenston made a complete study of the condition of the cemetery. Committee recommended perpetual care by the City. A letter should be written to the city expressing the society's concern for lack of care. Society will pursue the matter if City does not take action. Thirty-seven members went on field trip to Kings Bay Dig led by Betty Ann Cook and including viewing Sugar Mill Ruins in St. Marys, GA, with lecture by Dr. Bill Adams. Society requests permission from County Commissioners to inventory papers in courthouse steeple. Officers elected for 1982-83: Jim Gildenston (President), Howard Hanna (Vice President), Bob White (Treasurer), Carol Floyd (Secretary) and Directors: Helen Litrico, Bruce Chandler, Betty Ann Cook, Bob Douglas, Suzanne Hardee, Jimmy Johnston, Susan McCraine, Mike Pikula, Ann Robas, Ken Shanklin. Speaker was Miss Dena Snodgrass who is a teacher/principal and Jacksonville's foremost historian. She lectured on "A New Source of Fernandina History." 18. Notice of the January 1981 meeting. Speaker will be Herschel E. Shepard who is a Jacksonville architect who did design and historic preservation work on Fort Clinch. His subject: The Master Planning for the historic District of Quincy, Florida. 19. Information about the upcoming March 21 -22 Candlelight Tour to Charleston, SC. 20. Announcement of the Show and Tell meeting scheduled for April 14. Tommy Askins and others have donated road signs to the Museum of 8 Flags. Bruce Hall has died. 21. Announcement for summer meeting on July 13. Speaker will be Dorothy Groshell, Museum Director. 22. Announcements of Field trip to King's Bay Archaeological Digs on October 10 and the October 12 quarterly meeting. Dena Snodgrass, Jacksonville's most eminent historian, will speak of A New Source of Fernandina History as she discusses the East Florida Papers (which are now being catalogued at the University of Florida. 23. Meeting to be held January 1982. Speaker will be Bill Adams, from University of Florida; he is an archeologist who has been excavating the Kings Bay area in Georgia.
