The Fernandina Express Saturday, April 2, 1881. There is a report of Callahan having a fire on Friday April 1, 1881. It reports that the "fire burnt up the well and part of the frame work of the pump supplying water to the railroad tank. Callahan is an original town." There is a report of "three fast sailing yachts, The Winona, The Idlewild, and Anna arrived from Saint Augustine on Saturday to particiate in a regatta. This is one of the grand features of the day, and will doubtless be enjoyed." There was an announcement that Dr. J. H. Myer will be withdrawing from pator at the Presbyterian church on Amelia Island.
