Kathleen Davis Kathleen Davis, born in Orange Bluff, Florida, on November 19, 1919, recounts her family's history and relocation to Crandall in 1921 due to timber depletion. The Davis family, including three brothers and a sister, established a community with a store, church, school, and commissary. In 1931, they moved to Fernandina for better educational opportunities. Kathleen describes the transition to Sixth Street, the impact of World War II, and the establishment of mills like Rayonier and Container Corporation, which brought economic growth but also environmental challenges. The community adapted, with new housing and infrastructure developments post-war. |
