1. Letter dated 4 January 1991 to Members announcing first meeting of new year on January 14. Program will be presented by Mr. Rusty Nail who will discuss SPEBSQSA. 2. Minutes of First Quarterly Board Meeting of the General Duncan Lamont Clinch Historical Society held January 10th, 1991. Board meetings were held in homes of Board members. Letters had been sent to Rep. George Crady (8/17/90) by Ed Livingston concerning preservation of historic markers. Letter sent to City Commission urging support for operating grant to Amelia Island Museum. Jim Gildenston, chair of Historic District Council had requested donation to fund a cookout in Old Town. Possible future programs were discussed. The former Seaboard Railroad Depot (now the Chamber of Commerce building) had been donated to the Historical Society but could not be accepted as the Society was not incorporated. Building then given to City. More discussion is needed. 3. Minutes of the First Quarterly Meeting of the General Duncan Lamont Clinch Historical Society of Amelia Island held January 14th, 1991. Hal Belcher reported on compilation of information for census of each cemetery on the island. Speaker was "Rusty" Nail who presented program on the history of barbershop quartets and formation of Society for Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Singing in America; program included tapes of music. 4. Letter to Olin E. Nail thanking him for his presentation at the quarterly meeting. 5. Letter to Spain thanking her for a gift of $100 in honor of Bob and Mary Agnes White. 6. Letter dated 27 March announcing April 8 meeting of the Society with program to be given by Mary Hurt on Entertainment--Amelia Island History. 7. Minutes of Second Quarterly Meeting of the General Duncan Lamont Clinch Historical Society of Amelia Island held April 8, 1991 at the First Presbyterian Church. Bonnie Johnson announced celebration of Amelia Island Museum of History's Fifth Birthday. Hal Belcher reported City of Fernandina Beach had allotted $500 for census of Bosque Bello Cemetery post 1945. Deed by City of Fernandina of the Old Depot to our Society. Earlier proposal was not allowed as our Society was not incorporated. The Board voted unanimously to accept the City's current offer of the Old Depot. Program given by Mary Hurt, charter member of the Amelia Community Theatre and Ameliafest Fall Arts Festival. 8. Letter dated April 19, 1991 from Bob White to Truett George confirming his presenting the program on October 14. Program to be slide presentation about stained glass. 9. Letter from President Martin to Mrs. Ashley P. Hurt dated 9 April 1991 expressing gratitude for her presentation at the Historical Society meeting on 8 April. 10. Letter from The Tour Committee dated 9 May 1991 about plans for picnic and historical tour in Nassau County. Stops include Crandall, Court House Ditch, Kings Ferry. 11. Clipping from News-Leader dated May 22, 1991 written by Susan G. Alexander entitled: Believe it or not: Land was once dirt cheap in Nassau. Due to lack of activity in Fernandina the courthouse and county seat were moved north of the Nassau River in 1834 (according to Bill Oliver). The article describes a tour of Nassau County by the Society in a caravan of cars. Stops included: Orange Bluff, Pigeon Creek Primitive Baptist Church (near Boulogne) sawmills, Nassau County Courthouse, Nassau River, Callahan, Evergreen, Hilliard Air Traffic Control Center 12.. Undated newspaper clipping written by Susan G. Alexander entitled: Fernandina Beach's historic churches have stories to tell. 13. Minutes of Third Quarterly Board Meeting held June 25. City has voted not to take further action on deeding the Railroad Depot to our Society. Plans complete for July 8 meeting which will be a walking tour of three downtown churches. Nominating Committee presented Slate of Officers for 1992-1994. President: Howard Hanna Vice-President: Mary H. Boswell Treasurer: Bob White Secretary: Betsy Stewart 14. Letter from President Martin dated 27 June announcing meeting to be held July 8th which will be a walking tour of three churches in the Historical District. 15. Notes about Mary Leonard Hurt who will speak at an upcoming meeting. 16. Minutes of Third Quarterly Meeting of the General Duncan Lamont Clinch Historical Society of Amelia Island held July 8, 1991. Fernandina Beach City Commission has reversed decision to deed Railroad Depot to our Society. Mary Kaveney was the speaker; she spoke about the history of the First Presbyterian Church (1853 to present). Members walked to St. Peter's Episcopal Church where Betsy Stewart and Boots Lewis spoke about the history of that church. Similarly, the group walked at the memorial Methodist Church to hear Eldridge Partin. 17. Letter to Members dated 1 October 1991 announcing the agenda for the October 14 meeting where Truett George will speak about Stained Glass with an Emphasis on Fernandina. 18. Board Meeting in preparation for Fourth Quarterly Meeting held 26 September 1991. Discussed changes in by-laws and review of our Historical Society Charter. New board members to be presented for nomination at next meeting. Membership stands at 278. Possible programs and decision of file cabinets presented. 19. Letter from Bruce Malcolm to Jim Martin dated October 5 announcing his resignation from the board (due to a change in occupation). 20. Minutes of Fourth Quarterly Meeting of the General Duncan Lamont Clinch Historical Society of Amelia Island held October 14, 1991. New officers presented for approval: Howard Hanna, President; Mary Holt, Vice-President; Betsy Stewart, Secretary; Bob White, Treasurer. Board members: Jane Bos, Mary Agnes White, Richard Billings, Nida [Nita] Bridges, Betty Waas, Ed Livingston, Boots Lewis, Carol Anderson, Hal Belcher All approved by acclamation. Speaker Truett George of Advent Glass Works, Inc. was speaker. He and his company are restoring glass windows of St. Peter's Church. Hal Belcher noted the original Fernandina City Charter, handwritten in Spanish in 1824 is now housed in our museum. 21. Letter dated October 15 from Martin thanking Truett George for his presentation 22. Three pages concerning equipment purchased from K&W Audio Visual & Camera Co. Invoice dated 8 November 1991. Total cost $1366.40 23. Minutes of Fourth Quarterly Board Meeting of the General Duncan Lamont Clinch Historical Society of Amelia Island held 5 December 1991. Deon Jaccard to be speaker at January 1992 meeting. Possible programs discussed. Howard Hanna and Hal Belcher will represent the society on the planning committee for the 100th Anniversary of the Nassau County Courthouse. Deon Jaccard sound system to donated to Museum in lieu of filing cabinets. Further research to be done. 24. Letter to Members dated December 30, 1991 from Howard Hanna, President, announcing Deon Jaccard's presentation entitled Down with Spanish Galleons at the upcoming meeting on January 13. 1992. 24. Letter to Historical Society of Amelia/Mr. Harry L Bridges dated 19 March 1991 from Sandy Price, Event Coordinator of Centre St. Historic Fernandina Business Association. Discusses and describes proposal to commission a monument to commemorate Fernandina Beach as birthplace of modern shrimping industry. Half of the $5500) cost of the monument to be underwritten by Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival. Shrimpers Monument Fund established. 26. Invitation to An evening with Beverly Coyle (author of The Kneeling Bus). Book describes life in Florida during the fifties. Presentation will by on January 22nd at Memorial United Methodist Church.
