Nassau County Leader Friday, July 10, 1925. In article titled "German steamship loads phosphate" It mentions that the German steamship Cronshagen arrived in port on Tuesday July 7, 1925 loaded 1,200 tons of phosphate and left on Wednesday, morning July 8, 1925 for Jacksonville for more cargo. (page 1) There is a local report saying "Miss. Nell Chambers returned on Wednesday July 8, 1925 from Macon, Georgia where she spent a week with relatives, and resumed her position as chief operator for the Southern Bell Tel. & Tel co. Yesterday" (Bottom of page 1) Top of page 2 shows 2 top aerial views of the town of Fernandina. It is a contest from the Chamber of Commerce to be able to with $5.00 in gold by writing 100 words on the "Five greatest Needs of Fernandina today. Due by Thursday July 16, 1925. has an article on the talks about promoting Fernandina more to others to come visit it. - It mentions about the ideal climate conditions, ideal health conditions with very little malaria and typhoid fever is practically unknown. - It mentions how Fernandina has practically almost every church denomination represented on the island. - It mentions how the schools are really good. One statement that stood out in the article is "it pays to read advertisements in the same measure that it pays the merchants to advertise. Advertising removes the element of chance." (page 4) There was a fact saying Nassau County "leads all of Florida counties in the production of sweet potatoes. The highest price is paid for Nassau County potatoes because of their quality." (Second column middle of page 4) - City of Fernandina Tax report Budget of receipts for the city up to June 1925 (page 4) - There is an Essay titled Americanism written by a High School 9th grade student named Miss. Sarah Ferreira. Before the essay it mentions that she "won the Goldstein Medal for general excellence during" her last term at Fernandina Beach High School. She also "won the $5.00 gold piece awarded by the American Legion Auxiliary." The essay is about what makes a good citizen in your community back in the day. Miss Kirkland has been transferred to the Hastings office." (page 5) - There is a story how "Eddie C. Cook was seriously burned as a result of a gasoline fire explosion in one of Fodale Brothers shrimp boats" on Thursday July 9, 1925. Eddie went to the ship's cabin "to light a cigarette when gasoline seepings about the engine caught fire." "Flames enveloped the man's body, leaving him seriously burned about the face, hands, arms and back." (page 5) - There is a announcement saying "Friday, July 10th, is the last day to pay poll tax in order to vote in the city primary election on July 21st." Waas' Drug Store phone number 4. Promoting Wall- cabinet safety razors for 49 cents. (bottom of page 1) - Partin Shoe Company shows an illustration of a foot labeled with different foot problems. The advertisement is promoting a free demonstration to have something check your feet for what is causing foot pain. They are also promoting purchasing foot Dr. Scholl's Zini-pads (Top of page 3) - Island City Market located at Center and 3rd street. It shows an illustration of a little girl in a basket chair eating corn flakes for breakfast. (page 3) - Cardui The Woman's Tonic (page 3) - In the section titled "Mothers" it is promotion for the product White Cream Vermifudge to prevent worms in children. Price 35 cents Sold by J. Geo Suhrer in Fernandina and Conner Drug company in Callahan (page 3) - Keystone Hotel promotes that week day meals .75 cents or Sunday dinner $1.00 (bottom of page 3) - 666 medicine (bottom of page 3) - New Dixie Restaurant located on Centre street between front and Second streets. (bottom right of page 3) - Wolff & Co. sales agent (bottom of page 4) - Nestles Lanoil Permanent Waving from Mrs. D.P. Mularkey phone number is 121 charge for bobbed hair $10.00 for long hair 50 cents a curl. Post office box number is 766 - There is a job notice for Fernandina and vicinity for a salesman. It would be for a represented for "made-to-order and individually monogramed personal and business Christmas Greeting cards. Within the advertisement it mentions that anyone can ear in excess of $100.00 weekly on very liberal 33 1-3 per cent cash commission basis. The address to apply is "Process Engraving Company, Crawford Avenue at Eighteenth street, Chicago, Illinois. (page 5) - Wrigley's Spearmint gum. The add shows an illustration of a boy, spearmint gum with the Wrigley's gum arrow mascot beside the gum. (top left page 5) - Rogers & Jones for dyeing and cleaning. Located at 611 Main street, Jacksonville, Florida (page 5) - Matthew Haywood for steam dyeing, cleaning and pressing. Located at North 3rd street between Center and Alachua streets. Phone number 158 (page 5) - Coca-Cola bottling company located at the corner of Second and Ash street. Telephone 69. The other flavors it promotes making in the advertisement are "Ward's Orange Crush, Grapico, and All kinds of High-Grade sodas" (bottom of page 5) - Tutt's pills shows a photo of a New York police officer and shares his story on using the product. (page 5) - A .G. Vonnoh for Sheet Metal Worker Tinning and Plumbing. Located at the Office in Island City Garage building. P.O. Box 46 (page 5) - M.C. Moore's Tonsorial Parlor. Located at Center street in Billiard Hall in the Rear Promotes drinks, cigars, cigarettes and Tobacco. (bottom page 5) - Partin Shoe company is promoting a foot comfort demonstration on Monday, July 13, 1925. The advertisement promotes a few things the store is offering such as free pedo-graph pictures and free samples of Dr. Scholl's zino-pads (top left of page 6) - Nassau county leader is promoting getting an advertisement in the newspaper. There is a paragraph explaining why advertising is important in the newspaper. The statements that stand out in the advertisement are at the end that states: "Every time you talk to prospective buyers through an advertisement in the Nassau county leader you are increasing the fellow feeling that brings business to your store. (An advertisement is an invitation.)" (top of page 7) - Ford is promoting cars for sale. It shows and illustration of people at a tourist camp with their cars. In the background is a family at a picnic table, a camping tent. In the front is a man talking to a couple in their Ford car. The add promotes family and types of automobiles for sale. -Runabout - $260.00 Touring car - $290.00 Coupe - $520.00 Tudor Sedan - $580.00 The bottom of the advertisement includes a mail in coupon to the Ford motor company in Detroit Michigan. (bottom of page 7) - C. C. Conner General Merchandise in Hilliard. (bottom of page 7) - Dr. Miller's Headache Powders. "If not at the druggist" mail for 25 cents at "734 West Church street, Jacksonville, Florida." (bottom of page 7) -There is a sale notice for a house located at 117 South 8th street. It is described has a "bath and a garage. Apply S. W. Gluck (page 8) - There is an advertisement notice saying "We buy shrimp, heads on or heads off. We are now located at DiGrande's shrimp house. Telephone No. 5. Florida Shrimp Fisheries Co." (page 8) - There is an advertisement promoting "New Saint James Hotel, Jacksonville, Florida, One block from Hemming Park, Two blocks from post office. Rooms $1.50 and down, June and July. Garage available." Today in 2025 it is called the Saint James building located at 117 West Duval Street, in Jacksonville where City Hall is held. (Page 8) - Horsey's Drug Store phone number 22 (bottom of page 8) - Rex Theatre promotes the films playing - The Goose Hangs High (1925) plays on Monday, July 13, 1925. It is a reproduction of a Broadway musical. It is a Paramount romantic comedy directed by James Cruze. It stars actors Constance Bennett, Myrtle Stedman, Esther Ralston, and George Irving - The Swan (1925) with Adolphe Menjou, Ricardo Cortez & Frances Howard. Plays on Tuesday, July 14, 1925. -In Every Woman's Life (1924) directed by Irving Cummings. It stars Lloyd Hughes, Virginia Valli, Marc McDermott.
