Letter from Fernandina Acting Postmaster regarding the change of name of the village of Nassauville to Goffinsville. Letterhead United States Post Office, Fernandina, Florida. This letter is a reply to the July 30th letter of Acting Director, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, Washington, D. C. (2004.040.001) Ms. Ozmer notes a large part of the village belongs to Mr. S. S. Goffin who runs a canning factory and commisary there. Mr. Goffin wants the name change. However, the Star Route carrying mail to Nassauville and back is contracted under the name Nassauville. Ms. Ozmer further suggest that the matter to referred to the Post Office Department. She does not have a preference. Nassauville is still generally known in the area and the Clerk of Court knows of no change of name. Letter is signed by Ethel M. Ozmer, Acting Postmaster |
