Newsletter from The Clincher announcing a program titled "Remember Fernandina Through Photographs" presented by Rob Hicks, an author who had recently published the book "Then and Now: Amelia Island". 1. Minutes of the board meeting held 13 March 2017. New board members introduced. Tom Oliver suggested we define roles within our organization. Financial report by Calvin Stephens: 52 members (were 134 at end of 2016). He also has filed 990N form with the state and federal governments. Kim Hicks were create a Facebook page for the Society. Speaker for April 3rd meet is Gary Francis Powers, Jr. Suggestions for programs and tours were made. Need to arrange for meetings to use Museum; board meetings to use Public Library. Need someone to work on DLCHS historical records. 2. Minutes of the board meeting held 4 December 2017. Need confirmation that Ron Sapp will present History of Politics of Fernandina Beach in July. 3. Various written comments submitted. by Tom Raymond. 4. Minutes of the board meeting held 18 September 2017. Civilian Conservation Corp Statue dedication is September 28. Donation of $200 for Statue. Dues will remain at $10. Cemetery tour will be delayed due to impact of hurricane Irma on the cemeteries. Programs: Rob Hick (October), Neil Frink (January), Willie Sweatt (April). Kay suggested giving books from the Historical Society to speakers. 5.Minutes of the board meeting held 4 December 2017. Discussion of Membership and mailing newsletters.. Teen will take over membership. Neil Frink will speak on African American perspectives of history of Old Town and Fernandina. Old minutes (60s, 70s, 80s) held by Susan Steger were discussed. It was decided that minutes going back decades that had no historical significance should be discarded. |
