A newspaper clipping and photocopy of clipping of the obituary for 'W. J. Tracy', who died in a hospital in Savannah, GA, after 'a short and severe illness' on January 28th of his 27th year of age. It also mentions that he was one of the first from Nassau County, FL to enter the service and left behind many relatives and friends. The only Tracy who fits this is Washington Irving Tracy, who died of smallpox in a Savannah Confederate hospital on January 28, 1864. This collection of correspondences, photographs, personal items, and maps are from the life of Erasmus Darwin Tracy and Porte Creyon Tracy. This collection was donated by the Verne Johnson Pickren, Jr. family for all to enjoy. |
