Minutes taken from a Nassau County School Board meeting on Thursday, Aug. 31, 1876 at 3 p.m. Movements made to assign principals and assistant principals to various schools in Nassau County "Present: John Friend, G. Fisher, John Gordon, Samuel King, Charles W. Lewis, Secy. Minutes read and approved. 1. Moved that A. Poindextes... be principal of school #1 and Anna M. Harris as asst. 2. Moved H.E. Ballard as principal of school #2 and Maria King as asst. 3. moved that Rosa E. Griff asst. Lucy Joseph if needed 4. M.M. Travers (Miss), Hattie Fraeye asst. 5. George Green 6. Joseph Green 8. Floyd Wright 11. Trustees to be asked to recommend 12. Kate Chester (Mrs.) 14. Harry B. Delany, Horace H. Davis 15. Simon Litesey 16. Jas. T. Chestnut 17. J. Elkin 18. Louisa M. Wilds 19. Fannie W. Farmer 20. Willis Dorsey 24. Harrison 26. R.A Seaton Communication from School #19 referred to Supt. to appoint trustees in his judgement. The Supt. to visit school No. 19 and investigate the condition of affairs. Also to school near Eli Thomas. and arrange for contract not to exceed 75 for labor and material except benches. School house at Laftea $75, appropriate for building labor and material. School near 22 mile part (?) $50 approp, the above not payable before July 1/77. Application from #17 ..?.. forward of funds, notify trustees. Application of L.W. Higginbotham same cause ? to friday eve at 7 oclock. Moved that principal of school # 1 be paid at the rate of $60 per ? School #2 50 per ? Secy was directed to prepare certificates for the teachers recommended for them and notify them of their assignments and enter into contract with them." Handwritten on wide ruled paper with embossed seal in top left corner. |
