1. Minutes of membership meeting held 30 April 1953. President Dan Kelly presided. The meeting concluded ceremonies which began at Fort Clinch earlier in the day marking the dedication of the General Clinch Memorial Room at the Fort's Museum. Mr. Robert N. Dow, Jr., of the Jacksonville Journal made the dedication address. Motion made and approved to lower the regular annual dues of the Association to $2.00. Report of the nominating committee: Kelly, Dan, President Clinch, Duncan Lamont, Honorary President Kelly, Howard, First Vice President Snodgrass, Dena, Second Vice President Klarer, L. A., Third Vice President Decker, J. W., Executive Secretary Williams, John,, Corresponding Secretary Bowers, Mrs. Bertie, Treasurer Mr. William Benn of Chicago, acting on behalf of Mr. Clinch, presented to Mrs. Towers, for the Association a $5000 check to be used for restoration of the Fort's entrance gate, drawbridge and moat. Check to be deposited to credit of Association in Florida Bank at Fernandina and spent under the supervision of the Florida Board of Parks and Historic Memorials. Approved 6 May 1954. 2. Invoice from Fernandina News-Leader to Mr. Decker Fort Clinch Park. $27.30 for February printing. 3. Invoice from Fernandina News-Leader to Mr. J. Wm. Decker Fort Clinch Park. $26.18 for April printing. 4. Check from The Florida National Bank at Fernandina to Louis Goldstein, Postmaster for $16.00 for Gen. Clinch Memorial Assoc. 5. Receipts of the General Duncan Lamont Clinch Memorial Association (from The Florida National Bank at Fernandina Beach, Florida) for September 30, 1953 to September 30, 1954. Annual dues (including $200 for a life membership for Co. Bayard Clinch); Postage for postal cards; a recording fee; McDuffie Jewelers; Fernandina News Leader; Krafters and Fernandina Lumber & Supple Co. Ending bank balance was $1473.95. 6. Invoice from T. W. Brown, Clerk of the Circuit Court for Recording Charter of General Duncan Lamont Clinch Memorial [Association] including 2 photostated copies. Cost of $26.40. Dated 21 October 1953. Payment received 14 January 1954. |
