Booklet about Silver Springs Florida by Carita Doggett Corse This booklet outlines the creation of the springs and contains many lovely pictures of the area. 1. Board meeting held 6 March 2023. Membership: 72 paid 23 new; 19 nonrenewals. Discussion of what is our unique mission? April program will be Dr. Keith Ashley speaking on Timucua-speaking Mocama. Future programs for 2023 discussed. 2. Minutes of board meeting held 5 June 2023. Membership is 95. Donation of $100 to Little People's school in honor of Dr. Kay Johnson approved. Passing of Carolyn Phanstiel. Membership in American Beach Historical Society has been obtained. Tour of Island churches proposed. Problems with Amelia Island Lighthouse noted. 3. The Clincher Spring Quarterly. Also includes "Tidbits from the Archives" and President's Message. 4. Draft of Minutes of Board Meeting held March 6, 2023. Treasurer Calvin Stephens reported $9981.54 in the bank. Membership reported 72 members. Thanks to Rob Hicks for March program which was a panel discussion of old Fernandina. We should encourage these panel discussions. Steger led discussions of defining new directions for CHS to keep it relevant in the future. Need to consider: our audience, where we meet, Ideas for regular donors, special events, joint meetings with other societies. |
