1. Newsletter dated 3 January 1977. Announcement for quarterly meeting at which Mr. Jim Macbeth, Chief, Bureau of Historical Museums will speak. 2. Letter to Mr. Grady Courtney, City Manager, dated 14 Jan. 1977 from Pat Cottrell, President recommending Mr. Bill Galphin and Mrs. Helen Litrico as new appointees to the Historic District Council. They will fill the expired terms of Mr. Andrew Allan and Mrs. Leila V. Ketchum. 3. Letter to Mr. Ney Landrum Chief, Division of Recreation and Parks for Florida Department of Natural Resources, concerning beach erosion around Fort Clinch. 4. Letter from Patricia Ann Mason-Alves dated 1 Nov. 1977 on behalf of the Historical Society regarding the several and deteriorating condition of the lighthouse. 5. Minutes of the executive board meeting held 14 Dec. 1977. President was Pat Cottrell. Bill Galphin announced that speaker for January 8 meeting would be John McGiffin, Jr. of Jacksonville. University of Florida has requested a copy of our 1884 (Birds' eye view) for Fernandina. Need to updated Incorporation papers of the Society. Honorary memberships will be given to Mr. and Mrs. Tommy White and to Mr. and Mrs. New Roberts. Secretary was Dorothy D. Duggan. 6. Letter from Marcus A. McCorison, Director and Librarian of the American Antiquarian Society (Worcester, MA) to Bob White dated 19 August 1977. McCorison wrote that the American Antiquarian Society had acquired one of the earliest items printed in Florida. Print is extremely uncommon and represents "a fundamental document in the American settlement of Florida. 7. Letter from Eldridge Partin, Foundation president, to Friend of Restoration. Letter is an invitation to second annual Patrons Cocktail Party on December 2nd at villa Las Palmas with performance by Fernandina's famed Madrigal Singers. 8. Newsletter dated 4 April 1977. Program will be Basic Research in Genealogy to be presented by Mrs. Grace H. Jarvis, Certified Genealogist. A driving tour to Kingsley Plantation will be held on April 17th. Meeting to be held in First Presbyterian Fellowship Hall. 9. Newsletter dated 1 July 1977. Regular meeting topic is The Historian and the Causes of the Civil War. Speaker will be Dr. Thomas M. Leonard, Associate Profession of History of the University of North Florida. A course in genealogy is being proposed; Grace Jarvis as instructor. The Fernandina Historical Museum organization is currently being incorporated. The executive committee has been elected by Board of Trustees: President Mrs. Fletcher (Edith) Shurley; Vice President Rowe Hall; Secretary Mrs. Dan (Susan) McCranie; Treasurer, Fletcher Shurley; Trustee, Newt Roberts. Constitution and bylaws drawn up and approved. Search for suitable building is in process. Meeting with Fernandina Beach City Commission. Possible buildings are listed; unanimous choice of Building Committee is the Ortho Brown Building. Results presented to City Commission. Sightseeing trip to St. Simons Island, GA, is planned. 10.
