A letter written to 'Mother' from Washington Irving Tracy. He writes to inform them that he hasn't received the socks he asked his sister Ada to knit him yet, and that as soon as his his commanding officer returns in 2-3 weeks, he will be putting in for time off. Washington Irving Tracy would not survive the war, dying of smallpox in a Savannah, GA hospital only a few weeks after this letter on January 28, 1864. This collection of correspondences, photographs, personal items, and maps are from the life of Erasmus Darwin Tracy and Porte Creyon Tracy. This collection was donated by the Verne Johnson Pickren, Jr. family for all to enjoy. |
