Susan Steger and Suanne Thamm discuss the foundation and development of the Fernandina Observer, which is the first blog online newsletter in Fernandina Beach. The Fernandina Observer was founded in 2012 Susan Hardee Steger was a banker, a public servant serving on the City Commission for about three and a half years and then along with Suanne Thamm and Doug Newton founded the Fernandina Observer. Suanne Thamm moved here from Alexandria, Virginia with her husband Gerhardt 30 years ago. Suanne spent her professional career at the Library of Congress and ended up as an administrative executive when she retired in 1993. Susan and Suanne contributed to the growth and success of the Fernandina Observer until 2022. It was then taken over by Mike Phillips, who is the current owner and editor of the Fernandina Observer and has a long background in publishing and writing. |
