Enlarged framed photograph of the Eppes House on the corner of Ash and 10th Street. Thomas Jefferson Eppes was a direct descendant of President Thomas Jefferson. In 1884 Thomas Eppes shot and mortally wounded F C Suhrer ( Major Ret.), the manager of the Mansion House a popular hotel. Eppes accused Suhrer of insulting his wife. As it turns out Eppes wife fabricated the story to make her husband jealous. The Jury acquitted Eppes after considering the circumstances. 25" X 30" |
