Her qualifications are listed. 12. Letter to Tom Hay from Harry Bridges dated 12 May 1989 confirming that Hay will be featured speaker for 10 July meeting. His topic will be "Collections of the Past." 13. Letter from David W. Beer (Chairman of the Community Cultural Arts Center Committee) dated 15 May 1989 asking that a survey studying the need for a community cultural arts center be filled out and submitted. 14. Letter to Members from Harry Bridges dated 3 July 1989 announcing meeting to be held July 10 with program presentation by Tom Hay (proprietor of Bailey House) titled "Collections of the Past." 15. Handwritten request soliciting support from members for a grant from State Division of Historical Resources funding archaeological excavation of Santa Catalina Mission. 17. Letter from David E. Ferro of the Architectural Preservation Services (Bureau of Historic Preservation) to President Harry L. Bridges. Ferro states support for the project should be communication with legislative delegation and members of Senate Subcommittee. Project regards Special Category grant process of the Santa Catalina Mission site. 18. Flier invited members of Historical Society to a Special Birthday Party celebrating the 150th Birthday of the Amelia Light. Personal invitations sent to Mayor Shirley, City Manager Jones, Lt. Letter from Faye Irving (President of Southern Genealogists' Exchange Society) dated 26 Sept. 1989 requesting a complete listing and map of the old Bosque Bello cemetery for their research library. 30. Martin to Members dated 28 Dec. 1989 announcing first meeting of the New Year. 32. Notes from (board?) meeting. 33. Minutes of first quarterly meeting of 1989 held 9 January 1989 at First Presbyterian Church. President Harry Bridges presided. Need to purchase public address system discussed. Guest speaker was Boots Lewis who spoke on a segment of Civil War History: The Fernandina Ordeal between 1861 - 1865. 34. Letter from Helen S. Gwinn, Secretary, to Mrs. F. C. Menander (Spain) thanking her for $100 contribution. 35. Minutes of second quarterly meeting of 1989 held 10 April 1989 at First Presbyterian Church. Bob White, Treasurer, presided. Mary Agnes White gave report of recent trip to Charleston. Hal Belcher volunteered to survey reminder of cemeteries, starting with St. Peters. Suzanne Hardee thanked the Society for underwriting the cost of the 555 prints of the Decker Collection. Letter from Deon Jaccard, Director of AIMH, was read which also thanked Society for the prints from the 19th century glass plate negatives. AIMH has received grant from Florida Bureau of Historic Preservation to expand second floor. Speaker was Jay McLaughlin, local woodworker and sculptor, who spoke of The Ghost Towns of Cumberland Island. 36. Letter to Historical Society Members from Deon L. Jaccard, Director AIMH, dated 10 April 1989, acknowledging the Society's part of AIMH receiving grant from the Florida Bureau of Historic Preservation to rehabilitate the Museum's second floor as well as contributing to printing of glass plate negatives. 36a. Slate of names submitted by the nominating committee for Officers and Board of Directors. Officers: Jim Martin (President), Howard Hanna (Vice-President), Betsy Stewart (Secretary), Bob White (Treasurer). Board of Directors: Mary Holt Boswell, Jane Bos, Carol Anderson, Rich Billings, Ed Livingston, Bruce Malcolm, Boots Lewis, and Harry Bridges, (Ed-Officio). Guest speaker was Ed Rodriquez, Executive Vice-President of the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce. He also discussed the newly established Tourist Development Council. 40.
