-In 1982, the Amelia Island Sailing Club was presented a permanent trophy as a memorial to Captain William Bell and Captain James Bell. It is an 8", solid bronze, engraved ships bell mounted on a base of spar-varnished mahogany, with a commemorative brass plate and nameplates conveying the names of individuals wining the annual award for sailing and sportsmanship. |

Aerial view eastward from top of Egmont Hotel. Captain Bell's house, the Egmont Bowling Alley, and the Macedonia AME Church can be identified in the foreground. Egmont Hotel located at Seventh and Beech. Captain Bell's residence was later the home of Sam J. Kennard. Still later it was the "C" house (1980). The long low building in the foreground is the Egmont Bowling Alley.

Pilots tower in "Old Town". - Print, Photographic
Pilots tower located in Old Town at southeast corner of Estrada and San Fernando. Harbor pilots used it to spot ships at the "bar" flying a flag requesting a harbor pilot. The pilots would race out to see which pilot would bring the ship into the harbor. Some of the pilots were: Captain. Bell, Captain. Davis, Captain. Downs, Captain. McNeil, Captain. Lassere, Captain. Davis, Captain. Wm. Sharpe.
