This sextant was used by husband of the donor, Elmo Myers and men in the McCollough family in their shrimping business. The sextant originally belonged to Wendell H. McCollough (Capt. Mac) the donor's father. They fished for shrimp in Texas, Campeche Mexico, Nicaragua and Guyana, South America. The sextant was made by The Hezzanith Instrument Works, London. It is number 916. Shrimp Boat Race Plaque - Plaque, Award
A plaque presented to Wendell Herbert McCollough (Capt. Mac) by Ray Beville (Local Chamber of Commerce) at the Shrimp Boat Festival in 1969. Captain Mac won second place in the 170 hp class in the Eight Flags Shrimp Boat Race on May 4, 1969. His boat was named Ebb Tide.
