Description |
Collection of photographs found in the old location of Waas Drugstore. Photographs were left with the drugstore to process or make copies and never retrieved by the owners. Photographs are in brown processing envelopes with the owners name and some are loose photos. Where an owner's name is known, it is assigned to the scanned page/photograph. Photos are from the late 1930's through mid 1940's. These images are of the Horse Patrol Unit on Fernandina Beach supported by the US Coast Guard.. The Horse Patrol was born for fear of further German landings after a few of their saboteurs landed at Ponte Vedra Beach in March 1942. The patrol ended in 1944 after the 6 June Normandy landings. |
