Artist Scott Joseph Sutton was born February 10, 1981 in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, and died August 7, 2021, in the town he was born. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bucknell University in 2002, with a major in creative writing. His creative journey in writing and painting began in Chicago, II. and during the next years took him to State College, Pa., Missoula, Montana, Amelia Island, Florida, and Asheville, North Carolina. During these years he received awards for his artistic painting in both portraits and landscapes. While on Amelia Island he met Felix and became interested in his story. The portrait was in his private collection since 2005. It was his wish that the people of Amelia Island enjoy his painting of "Felix" as his gift to the community. Felix Jones is a local favorite and travels around downtown selling snacks, fruit, and T-shirts. He is also a gifted harmonica player. Proceeds from his sales are used to support students when going to college. |
