Fernandina Observer Wednesday January 1, 1876. The museum owns 2 versions of the newspaper in different conditions. There is a in depth article which covers the history of the railroad being developed in Florida and differnet regulations and steps to drain swamp lands in Florida to construct the Railroad in Florida. The article also covers regulations dealing with the internal improvement fund for the state of Florida. The internal improvement trust fund deals with isssues concerning drainage, reclamation, and the settlement of public lands.The timeline in the article covers from September 4,1841-1876. The artcle was written because there was a lawsuit between the State of Florida and the trustees of the internal improvement fund against Daniel P. Holland, Edward C. Anderson, and other citizens living in Georgia. Within the newspaper is a report for the Egmont Hotel and at the Mansion House of the arrival of guest names and what state they were traveling from. There is a list of prices for the sale of products sold at the Fernandina Retail Market. Some of the items in the list include vegtables, fruits, poultry and other food products being sold.
