Fired Minié ball (89-5-4398). Invented in 1849, the Minié bullet, or Minni ball, is a cylindrical bullet for rifled muskets with a hollow base that expanded when fired and was lethally accurate over relatively long distances. It was popularized in the Crimean War and American Civil War. On Loan from the Florida Museum of Natural History. |
