Original entry: This cannonball is supposedly the cannonball shot from the USS Ottawa upon its arrival in Amelia Island on March 3, 1862. Cannonball with Bormann Fuse - Cannonball
This is a fragment of a cannonball (exploding shell) with a Bormann fuse. The Bormann fuse set the timing of the explosion of the shell. The cannonball was found by the archivist in a box under the work table. Its ownership is unknown and it has not been claimed.
